Regulation, supervision and reimbursement of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) differ substantially between countries within Europe.
These differences are large enough to put patients’ safety at risk. Many cancer patients are looking for CAM treatments including alleged “cancer cures” abroad. For these patients it is important to have unbiased and country-specific information at hand about the regulation, supervision and reimbursement of CAM.
NAFKAM has collected this information from 39 European countries and compiled it in a database. It is available on an open-access English-language website called CAM Regulation. The primary objective is enabling citizens to make informed and safe choices when seeking CAM treatment in Europe.
